A little bit about myself, I was brought up in a very creative filled home amongst the countryside of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Living in the country allowed for endless space to play and explore, where I was able to find inspiration everywhere I looked, and feel a real sense of freedom. Growing up I found myself drawn to watching my mum create pastel paintings and beautiful hand sketches. I formed an abundance of love for art and was immediately drawn to watercolours and inks, and their water wash softness. I would layer contouring values of colour and overlay fine hand sketched details to give my pieces a beautiful depth and symbolic expression.
In my late teens my style evolved rather dramatically from painting with mixed mediums and hand sketches, to embracing the new fluidity and abstraction of resin. My growth as an individual and as an artist distinctly shows through my earlier works to my current creations. My movement of style allowed me to reflect upon life experiences I was faced with at a young age and leading into adulthood. In today’s world I seek the freedom I discovered as a young girl, capturing the free movement in each layer of resin and mixed media, embracing mesmerising details in the depth and reflection of light and colour through my art creations.
Continuing my love for design and creation, after school I went on to create my personal art brand, BKelly Designs. Since beginning BKelly Designs back in 2012, it has been a platform for crafting bespoke commissioned artworks for clients. I’ve held market stalls at our local Milton Markets and BrisStyle Markets, showcasing my handcrafted resin jewellery, artworks, and interior décor. Additionally, I have taken on projects helping design business brands, logos and website artworks.
Alongside my art business I went on to complete a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration, later graduating from my Bachelor of Design specialising in Architecture. While being in the design and construction industry for over a decade now, I have worked across many sectors including interior design/ colour consulting, kitchen design, architecture, structural engineering, mentoring students and teachers in the design sector, tutoring, and teaching art/ running classes.
One particularly enriching experience was collaborating with Brittany Becker, owner of Hearty Art Studio. Her studio served as a vibrant haven where individuals of all ages indulged in creative expression. Working alongside Britt and her creative community further ignited my love for helping others on their artistic journeys.
Leading to my work today, from all my career adventures and opportunities, art still plays such a significant role in my world. Art is a beautiful form that has allowed me to express, explore, problem solve, practice patiences, plan, process, find my inner child and actively use my imagination and hands. Which is why I find it a wonderful movement that everyone should be able to enjoy and explore for themselves as well. So I am extremely thrilled to be opening up my own art studio that welcomes my surrounding community, it's truly a dream come true since I was a little girl. I get to pour my passion for art into my studio and share my learnings with others.
So join me in creating this new wonderful art journey with Arty Clouds Studio!
